Community Foundation awards scholarships
The Community Foundation of Frederick County has awarded more than $350,000 in scholarships to area students

Staff Reports

The Community Foundation of Frederick County has worked with individuals, families, businesses, associations, and nonprofits since 1986 to establish charitable funds that touch the future of the community by providing scholarships and grants. Of the more than 600 funds held by the Community Foundation, 180 award scholarships, in keeping with each donor's charitable intentions. Each scholarship fund has its own criteria, with most scholarships awarded based on academic discipline, extracurricular activities, post-secondary educational setting, athletic and community involvement. Financial need alone is not necessarily a prerequisite. As a result, the Community Foundation is a resource for local scholarships, awarded through a competitive application and screening process.

Visit www.cffredco.org or call 301-695-7660 for more information about the Community Foundation. The application and guidelines to be considered for scholarships for the 2009-2010 academic year will be available after Dec. 15, through the Community Foundation's web site.
